Them ol’ Duke boys could git that thar General up on two wheels, but I’ll wager they ain’t never managed drivin’ on three. Brings a whole new meaning to the word Hazzard…
Spotted down south somewhere by my mate Spence. Cheers for the pics!

I came across this picture when I was sorting through a bunch of my old photos. I took this back in 1985 in some random car park down south. Can you get more 80’s looking than this Mercedes 190E? I bet the owner looked like an extra from Miami Vice.
Whilst I was filling up in a petrol station recently, this fantastic old ERF flatbed truck rolled in. I think this is an LV model from 1969. The badge on the front which reads “Gardner 100″ denotes that this truck came equipped with a 5 cylinder Gardner 5LW diesel engine, the “100″ I believe, being the horsepower. Pretty meagre for an engine that was around 7 litres! I love seeing old trucks like this out and about. They have real character compared to modern trucks and often sound fantastic. I’m not sure if this one was a show piece or still a working truck as it was in excellent condition but didn’t have the “over restored” look that so many old trucks have.
Somehow this fabulous old Fiat 124 Special I saw at the weekend seems to have dodged the worst ravages of galloping tin worm well enough to remain roadworthy, although looking at those rear quarters, maybe not for much longer. The 124 was originally launched way back in 1966 and picked up Car of the Year in ‘66, beating the BMW 1600 into second place. The basic 124 came equipped with an 1197cc OHV four pot but this 124 Special from 1972 had the larger 1438cc unit backed by a four speed ‘box. Sportier ST versions came with twin cam units and five speeds and of course the 124 saloon also spawned the slightly more upmarket 125 as well as the 124 Coupe and the 124 Sport Spyder. The humble 124 saloon tends to live in the shadow of it’s sportier brethren but was really quite a competent and popular family saloon in it’s day, which is reflected in it’s long production run from ‘66 through to ‘74.
Spied this Datsun Laurel C31 sat on the side of the road today as well. I have seen it about before but not grabbed a pic. It’s actually up for sale at a slightly optimistic £900. The wheel arches are looking like they’ll need attention all round very soon but it was nice enough inside. This would look pretty sweet sat low on some deep dish Star Sharks or Phantoms…
